Holidays are fun, festive, and a great time to connect with your clients and prospects in a different way. Throughout the weeks and months, you may send emails or newsletters, or write blogs or social media posts about your listings, closings, and open houses. You may share articles of interest about the neighborhood or the housing market in your area. Holidays offer a platform to change it up and put the focus on something different, keeping it interesting and person-centered.
This weekend is Memorial Day. There are parties, cookouts, events, festivities, relaxing, and any number of other ways to celebrate. Many people enjoy the holiday as the sign that summer has begun - swimming pools are open, school is winding down, and summer vacations are on the horizon. Beyond that, Memorial Day is a time to honor fallen service members who gave their life to protect our country and freedom. There are a lot of community events in every area to do just that; from parades and memorial services, to fireworks and massive motorcycle rides in honor of Memorial Day.
Remember, Memorial Day is not the same as Veteran’s Day, where we honor and recognize all veterans. Memorial Day is specifically for those who have died in the service of our country. Many people get these mixed up, so make sure you are clear and can gently educate through your interactions.
As a professional Realtor®, you have some unique opportunities to connect with your clients and honor Memorial Day. Here are some ways to make this weekend be a special time for your business and those you serve.
Acknowledge the meaning of the Day, and the sacrifices made by service members, in your newsletter, blog, or social media posts. It is a powerful message and you want people to know that you care. Honoring others is an important way to demonstrate your personality and character.
Share a personal story of someone you know, or are inspired by, who gave their life in the armed services. You can go way back in our shared history, or talk about someone whose ultimate sacrifice is more recent. You also may find a touching or compelling story about a family impacted by the loss of service member. Homes for Heroes is an organization that helps families of service members with housing. That could be a great source of inspiration to share with your clients.
However you choose to recognize this holiday, please be safe and enjoy your time with family and friends. If you are showing houses, perhaps engage your clients in some discussion about Memorial Day. Please reach out and let us help you with setting up a website, blog or social media sites.
